  • Oh niiice, Star Wars Arcade. I'd do many things to get one in a condition like that. Not sure bout the disc though...

Now I am hunting for X-wing Collector's on PC but this became a rare finding too.

  • @PituDitu Yes, the disk does look ropey, but then there were a lot of originals that had cheap looking labels back in the day, so I'm not calling shenanigans on it just yet...

Hope you find a nice copy of the X-Wing compilation, I love all of those games. TIE Fighter is probably my favourite. It looked gorgeous at the time thanks to the higher resolution and goraud shading, and the story was immersive and compelling (playing as the bad guy thinking that your the good guy etc.).

  • @ash81b4u Jonathon Davies worked on Zero and AP. His writing was very good.

  • @thejoyofsticks The first editor of AP, Matt Bielby, did work on a Spectrum mag. It may have been Your Sinclair.

  • @bluetonic78 That combined with overhauling the look of the magazine to make it look like a copy of Zit magazine (read Viz for kids) was absolute suicide. Really it should have rid the waves off console uptake and gone on strong for a couple more years at least.

  • @ash81b4u Am I right in thinking it shares writers with Your Sinclair and Zero?

  • @thejoyofsticks I really enjoyed reading AP every month. Tough reviews but the mag was very funny too.

  • @thejoyofsticks Yes! Zero Magazine! Most people I mention that to are like "Zero what?". It didn't last long (the demise kicked in after they included Strip Poker on a cover disk and were subsequently banned from a plethora of leading newsagents, oops!) but I completely agree that it still stands up today and was a bit of a trailblazer.

  • @ash81b4u I guess you are right, but stick it on the hardest difficulty and treat it as a score attack and it still excites!

I wouldn't mind reading some Amiga Power, as it was a springboard for many great writers - Stu Campbell and Kieron Gillen spring to mind.

  • Star Wars is still a classic on any system although you get bored after about forur death star runs. Nice collection of mags. Always liked Amiga Power back in the day.
