i would think it wise to use flares on the attack runs so as to prevent manpads or other SAM's getting lock on you..?

I love DCS BLack Shark but have no time to learn all systems and procédures :(

well is not that simply, you can use your missiles to stay away from threats, however, most of the times or at least the first time you play a mission is very difficult to locate all targets or all threats so you need to move around the danger zone and you can get shot. Or you simply run out of missiles and need to finish the job in a close combat area.

Yes there is soldiers with stingers and other rocket launchers. theres many things to take out :D
