Neighborhood Bike Works students on the ninth annual Major Taylor Birthday Ride. Marshall "Major" Taylor was an African American bicycle racer who lived about one hundred years ago. He was a pioneering Black athlete in a world before Jesse Owens and Jackie Robinson. There are a couple of good books about Major Taylor including his autobiography, _The Fastest Bicycle Rider in the World_ and the children's book featured here, _Major Taylor, Champion Cyclist_, by Lisa Cline-Ransome, with illustrations by James E. Ransome.
