my parents are tories, probably will never chnge their minds, but both say that thatcher was a complete b***h, my mum blames her for my grandads death, he needed a heart transplant.

Just clearing it up:
The film is set in a fictional town in COUNTY Durham, and not in Durham the city. I guess the musical should be set in the same place... but I don't think it would be Newcastle because, if I remember the film well, an important part of it is an audition in Newcastle that Billy misses. Mind you I haven't seen the film in a few years so this could all be made up.

Well I'm fairly sure the film is set in Durham, so I presume the musical is too. At least that's what I understood from watching the film. Unless they just made references to people from Durham and they were from Newcastle themselves. It's that general area anyway.

Not seen the film in ages, and saw the musical about a year ago, so I just assumed it was Newcastle!
I'm most likely wrong-though it was near enough! lol
