Mexico Feeding Center & Clinic for Poor Indiginous People

This is the feeding center for the Oaxacan Indians who migrate northward in search of a better life, only to find themselves in as bad or worse conditions than they left behind in the mountain villages of Oaxaca. Wings of the Eagle Inc., (www.healthformexico.org) has been helping to sponsor and equip this center which served more than 11,000 meals last year without charge. Our goal has been to use the feeding center to hold medical clinics, starting in this small way of once per month. Of course the need is much greater than this, but we have come to believe that it is important make this modest beginning now rather than wait and do nothing while trying to raise support for our more ambitious goals. Through a mutual friend, we linked up with Dra. Jeannette Garcia in Ensenada. After medical school, Dra. Garcia found work at the general hospital in Ensenada but began to pray that she could also work with the indigenous people like her parents. Wings of the Eagle and this project became an answer to her prayers. At the center we were privileged to be present at one of the daily feedings of over 70 children, nursing mothers and elderly. Then we setup an exam table that we had flown and trucked into Mexico in a few dozen pieces, and loaded it up with supplies from Hands of Hope (www.handsofhopeorg.com) and pharmaceuticals purchased in Ensenada. April 17 was the day of the first medical clinic at Brechas del Mirador, and it was a success. Dra. Garcia and her mother, together with the pastors wife, Detra, examined 36 patients in 8 hours - thats about 1 every 15 minutes.
