  • But is it not true that they did ninjutsu, it just wasnt called that? if they wanted to remain secret, they wouldnt make a ninja brand would they??

  • @ShotokanKarateMan1 ninjutsu was real and everyone knew what ninjutsu was about but the skills were secret but none of it was martial arts. Go to my website and click downloads "introduction to ninjutsu"

  • Natori briefly explains how a kaginawa grappling iron can be used “to grapple” someone.Here is the interesting bit; he adds that it can be used, and I quote, “for MANY other purposes NOT MENTIONED HERE.” End quote. How interesting, “not mentioned here”!This proves that just because some shinobi skills (like unarmed combat) are not mentioned in the Shoninki, or any other manuals we only know of, doesn’t mean that the ninja never used it.

    All this proves that ninjutsu is not JUST a martial art.

  • @TheTokugawaShinobi I think you misunderstand. No one is saying they did not use it. We are saying that there is no specific ninja fighting art. So if a samurai uses a rope to bind someone a ninja would not use a differant way. His school has a secret way, so do other schools, all schools had their own ways. this does not mean ninja/samurai were differant or as Hatsumi says, had their own fighting system

  • @TSOAS2008 You are still missing the point, he says you can grapple people with hooks, this is also in samurai stuff. etc. he never says there is a ninja martial art at any point. We KNOw that there were ninja tricks for combat. this is UNDERSTOOD by all. There is just no ninja fighting system. Please see the point.

  • ....students know the real names and learn about the nine schools and differences and to also train their techniques against not only other Ninjutsu but a person with gloves trying to really kick your ass lol. So yes....I slightly agree with you but I suppose that some people even back then propably called it Ninjutsu..and here comes the big one...........your rite, it's not a martial art.......it's a way of life.

  • @Berry2be I was a student and Hatsumi does say that ninpo taijutsu is a martial art. He has even published a book on it, the problem is that is incorrect and he knows it, thats why it changed to Budo Taijutsu. The Bujinkan can never escape the fact that it thinks ninjutsu is a system of fighting

  • @crazyseba666 Ninjutsu was not a Martial Art. All time they were training tecnics or living common lives. I recommend you strongly buy Shinobi Soldiers and enjoy the reading.

  • @ninjatarquin they would do the martial arty of their own school.

  • Shinobijutsu wasn't a MA but it was a skill in Shinobijutsu & it had dirty tricks.So,if a ninja ever fought a samurai in unarmed combat;it wouldn’t look like a samurai fighting another samurai.That's why it can be called shinobi taijutsu even though it’s not mentioned in the Shoninki.If we only had the Book of Five Rings as evidence on samurai ways,we cannot say samurai did jujutsu and we'd be wrong.It’s incorrect to use the Shoninki or the other 2 manuals when it comes to shinobi fighting ways.

  • @TSOAS2008 I also said that if you read between the lines of what Natori said about anything a ninja should do,he lists at least 8 ways a ninja would be different in fighting by highlighting simplicity,deception,resourcefulness,individual imagination,quick to find gaps,quick or fast,without complications.Sometimes ninja used the exact same methods as samurai & sometimes they used the methods with the above 8 principles,thus,fundamentally having their own system of fighting,as Natori writes

  • Now, because Natori uses words like “all” and “anything” he is also referring to fighting methods; more specifically SHINOBI fighting methods. Shinobi unarmed combat must, at least, contain these 8 characteristics, and these 8 are what makes Shinobi Taijutsu different from ancient samurai jujitsu.

  • From these words we can say that in Shinobijutsu (or SKILLS of the SHINOBI), the skill of Shinobi Taijutsu (or SHINOBI UNARMED COMBAT) in Shinobijutsu was:

    (1) extremely diverse when compared the schools of the times the ninja lived in;

    (2) resourceful;

    (3) individually imaginative;

    (4) quick to find gaps;

    (5) quick…fast!;

    (6) simple,

    (7) without complications

    (8) deceptive
