@MegaKeyboarder A majority of the fire departments in the US respond to medical calls too, and that is what most of their responses are. The fire department that I am on as a volunteer doesn't respond to medical calls so we are not that busy, we get about 800 calls a year between three stations. We serve a population of 40,000-normally a fire department to serves a population that large would be full time or combination if they did medical as well.

@MegaKeyboarder There are villages of all sizes, smaller ones are usually protected by all volunteer departments. Where I'm from some of the rural areas have fire districts which are fire departments that protect a larger area. Larger towns, cities, and townships might have combination fire departments or full time. I'm a volunteer for the township that I live in and I work full time at a chemical plant as a firefighter.

@alexandermakrianis Thanks ;)
Are they little villages in the USA? 100 people and more....or big villages ?
Are you Vol.?

@MegaKeyboarder Sounds similar to the fire service in the US. Some fire departments are combination (full time and volunteer) where the full time personnel respond to routine calls but they call the volunteers for larger emergencies. Larger cities and metropolitan areas usually are all full time and most smaller fire departmeants in small towns or rural areas are volunteer.

We in Germany have a lot of Volunteer too, we have 100 Profession Fire Departments. We have even Volunteer Fire Departments with Full time Fire-Fighters. When there is a big operation the Vol. Fire-Fighters alarms at the next. Else the Vol. alarms with Pager's or a old Siren, some Villages are not big and have no money, then are little Fire Engine's and the equipment is not the best. And we can with sixteen in some Vol. Fire Depts.
How ist it with the Vol. Alarms in the USA?If anyone interested

@HFD97FIRE2 that's exactly right a paid firefighter cant be in it for the money, because we don't get paid enough to do what we do. but in the long run it's well worth it, to know that u went the distance to save another person's life. stay safe, have a good one
75% of firefighter in the USA are volunteers. We don't do it for the money. Its a community thing and a brotherhood. Well made report and great interview.
