Estimates show that at least 250 people nationwide died after they were hit by tasers that were shot at them by the police. Those who support the use of tasers by police departments say that they save lives. Those opposed to their use say that they take lives unnecessarily. In this video excerpt, Aram James, a former public defender and Donald Mendoza, a member of the Palo Alto Taser Task Force share their opposing perspectives concerning tasers with talk show host Henrietta J. Burroughs. This one hour show can be seen on television and on the web from May 3 to May 17. Anti-tazer zealots ignore the real facts. In upwards of 99% of all tazer-related deaths, the suspect probably would have died in a conventional struggle due to the drugs in their body, or would have been shot.
