The University of Mississippi, which hosted the first debate of U.S. presidential candidates, has a historical significance for this particular race. Two people were killed in 1962 when white students rioted in protest at the enrolment of the first black student. And today a recent poll suggests that racial prejudice is still an issue that could cost Barack Obama the White House.

I see a lot of racists here trying to distract from the issue at hand, race prejudice and its influence on the election. Clearly the existence of race prejudice favours Mccain and hurts Obama. Its something to think about as america continues its quest to spread "american style democracy" around the world.

It is true their is a racist skinhead culture in Russia, very similar to the skinhead culture in the rest of Europe. This came about with the fall of the USSR and the embrace of western materialism.
But the issue here is hidden prejudice in THIS election. When interviewed Mccain supporters said colour was not a factor even though according polls, 40% of whites hold negative views of blacks.
A skinhead is open about his racial prejudice .

You can vote for any candidate you want for any reason. No judgement (ok or not ok) is being passed. However, the effects of racial prejudice on the election should not be ignored. Black people being a minority group usually end up with the short end of the stick when it comes to racial prejudice.
I agree both candidates are not going to be good but they are not the same (as many like to say), just like Bush and Al Gore were not the same in the 2000 election.

what black americans must do is - to invest more into Africa and develop it. it doesn't mean they have to abandon US. but if whites in US are so obsessed with racism well, let them have fun with their america, which is gonna become insignificant pretty soon. Africa has huge natural resources and a lot of land ! it lacks help. and black americans could provide it - it is their ancestral homeland !

So its not ok to vote for Mccain because he is white but its perfectly okay to vote for Obama because he is black!
YEAH! AMERICA! The Nation of DOUBLE STANDARDS!
Both candidates are not going to be good for this country or the world..when will the stupid Americans wake up....?
