David Pastorius and Local 518 "The Chase"

David Pastorius nephew of Jaco Pastorius noted bass player and member of the jazz band Weather Report has released a new album CD on P-Vine Records called "David Pastorius and Local 518". This video is a live performance of one of the cuts from the CD. This video is part of a 24 minute video used for promotion of the cd in Japan.

It was my understanding that it was the record company's call. Jaco is BIG in Japan. The CD has not been released in US yet so...

Yeah... Being a Pastorius is both a blessing and a curse for this guy. Blessing in that the musical genetics are there, but a curse in that he's clearly a very, very, VERY, VERYVERYVERY talented Bass player in his own right, however, people- who don't know how to accurately asses musical talent- will always devalue his ability with the presumption that he's riding his name.

His name could be David Smith. He's a great, great, world class bassist.

i had no idea how big this guy's name was or how big his uncle's was... i just jammed with guy at a local bar a couple nights ago, he's unbelievable. definitely an interesting experience
