River was right before my time... I was only 6 when he died, so I had no idea who he was at the time. Just recently I stumbled across some things about him and have developed a serious respect for the guy. It's a rare thing to find someone who is drop-dead gorgeous and doesn't use it against people. He gave a shit about things other than his hair, you know? From all accounts he was a great actor, had a heart of gold, and stuck to his beliefs... what went wrong?

Listening to this song alone and thinking about River makes me cry, with or without the video. I knew I shouldn't have clicked on it! Is it right to cry this much over someone you never knew?

Yes it is. River was so amazing and had this gift to convey such emotions from behind the silver screen and make us feel like we know him... Crying over him just comes natural, I guess... God bless him!

Tom Petty didn't write this song, but he did dedicate it to River during a concert he held in Gainesville! I find it beautiful:)
