  • @joeyjojo4 Is this perfect sarcasm or just tasteless idiocy? I swore I would never write a negative comment on YouTube. Your comments, however, deserve comment. You're wrong, operettas are still being performed and loved and, to paraphrase a fool, the likes of Madonna and the Shallow Brittany will someday be "mercifully and completely forgotten"

  • I agree absolutely. Without a doubt, Drake was one of our great musical theater performers --

  • Thanks fo uploading this. I love opera and these great shows. Nothing on like this today.

  • What a great moment - Drake and Munsel singing Victor Herbert! They used to show things like this on TV. I remember seeing Drake in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Yeomen of the Guard." Anybody have that? (By the way, Munsel surely had that high note at the end; did she sing it or was it dubbed/synched to make sure that this clearly "live" broadcast came out perfectly?)

  • I agree that Alfred Drake was one of the greatest actor/singers ever on Broadway; my parents got to see him in a revival of Kismet in San Francisco in the late '60s, and they said he still sounded like he did on the original Broadway cast album, which we had on LP, and which I was able to find some years ago on CD. I would love to see a video of his singing "Sands of Time"--his pitch and interpretation are perfect, and his breath support incredible--truly a stellar performance!!

  • t5his was nice to see. But I'd really like to see some more, other, Afred Drake videos - he was the leading American actor on Broadway in the late 40's, early 50's. So where is the video?

  • @333aaa66699A I agree with you completely. Who will remember Madonna in the next century?

  • Oh, that was absolutely beautiful; such a wonderful duet!

  • I saw Alfred Drake in Kismet . . . he is absolutely one of the finest voices that Broadway has ever seen.

  • Beautiful,

    Thank You

    Mike

  • Good for Patrice, a lovely lady with a lovely voice, a perfect match. JRT
