True Lies by Taalam Acey from film American Blackout 2006
http://www.americanblackout.com/
Whatever you think you know about our election systems or Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, this film will make you question further why the news media fails to accurately inform the public. Directed by GNN's Ian Inaba, creator of Eminem's "Mosh" music video, American Blackout critically examines the contemporary tactics used to control our democratic process and silence voices of political dissent. American Blackout chronicles the recurring patterns of voter disenfranchisement from Florida 2000 to Ohio 2004 while following the story of Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. Mckinney not only took an active role investigating these election debacles, but has found herself in the middle of her own after publicly questioning the Bush Administration about the 9/11 terrorist attacks. • This is really deep.

We heard this today in class.

Everyone sat up and actually payed attention.

    Simply brilliant.

  • brilliant, simply brilliant. next time add in that 911 was an inside job and ur done.

  • Excellent!

Man, do I ever hope that Cynthia Mac give it another shot in 2012!

One thing is for sure, Obama's performance, part Clinton's neo-liberal ecomomics and part continuation of the Bush assault on civil liberties and that is I won't have any divided sympathies the way I did in '08 (I donated and worked for both Obama and McKinney.),

  • @bn08 The thing is many issues we face in society (education, gap between rich and poor, unemployment) cannot be fixed in a year or two. It takes generations. But everyone is looking for a quick fix (or at least the illusion of a quick fix). You can't fix these things with a single reform or bill. When things aren't fixed immediately, people think the government has "failed" when in reality these things take time. It's very frustrating to hear bullshit bipartisan bickering that helps no one

  • @Black24Thought Sometimes I share those precise thoughts, and then I begin to think progress is procurable; it's just more difficult to come by because we (the people) aren't as united as we once were. The trust in government is a bond stronger than ever. Strategically done so to prevent the exact progress in question.

  • There is nothing in this poem that isn't widely known to anyone in America. The problem is, the only people that want to do anything to about it or bring about change have no political voice. Face it: the rich run the country, "progressivism" only exists in ideology, not in practice

  • he is preaching the truth
