  • @centurion180ad It's not odd, it reflects the Hollywood convention that in action/survivalist scenarios in movies, the hot chick does usually die in some 'beautifully sexy' way before the end, and a lone tough guy survives. This has nothing to do with the real world. Hell, if movies reflected the real world, about half the cast would be female, including main characters, and that is very obviously not the case.

  • @Peterplayingguitar indeed. Can tell straight away he doesn't fuck around.

  • @viniciusb agree with you mate.. but then again, she's a good actress..!!

  • Mister Scott’s crack about female officer characters and how his was to survive supposedly unexpectedly in the end, is an odd crack.

If script writers possess a quasi discriminatory convention, what has that to do with actual shipboard officers or senior noncommissioned officers in the real world for whom we may draw examples of behavior from?

  • @atomichead777 She is the daughter of a former NBC president, she got this role and every other handed to her on a silver platter I can not think of a worst casting for Ghostbusters, almost any other actress at the time would have fitted the role better. Then again, so are most of these actors, producers, etc. Nepotism runs deep in Hollywood.

  • I like his smile at the end when he tells how he undercut the usual horror movie cliche of the 'hot chick dies' as, in his own words, ''because she's female...she'd probably go in some rather beautifully sexy way halfway through the movie but that wasn't to be.''
