This is my buddy and I driving up Canton Avenue, in Pittsburgh, in my 2004 Ford Crown Victoria. This is the steepest public street in the world with a 37% grade, 2/3 of it on chewed-up cobblestones. Fun!

  • @ukguy: Post up some proof, man. that's all I can say. Do a Google search yourself.

  • sorry but thats not the steepest in the world, just type in steep gibraltar, spain street(s), and find the answer for yourself :)

  • I would if Googling what you told me to actually brought up anything... the two steepest public streets in the world are Baldwin Street in New Zealand and Canton Avenue. YOU look it up and find the answer for yourself. :-P

  • haha " biggest street in the continent or somethin "

  • I can't accept responsibility for what my passengers say.

  • i think highest point is @ number 1611

  • @93MickyD1: Possibly because I would have shredded either my front bumper cover, or exhaust tips, or both, on the initial incline. And maybe cause I didn't want to break anything on the awful cobblestones.

  • @PantherP74 thats not true i've been up a 40% road in wales

  • it looks like the car tips over!

  • saw some post online-forgot the website-but i found you on youtube too sweet!

  • theres also the road leading to the entrance of the Arecibo observatory in Puerto rico (the largest raido telescope in the world) for years this road remained at 40 degress (yep 40) but just 4 years ago it was re-surfaced down to about 35 degress, (not for the sake of employee cars) but instead to make it easier on the tourist/visitors climbing to the obsevatory.

  • the reason is that it is not recorded on camera, people may think that this was very steep, but in a area rare, wheres theres no traffic, the street is at 39% centigrate, steep high, oh btw, gibraltar is not the name of the street, its the name of the city, i actually thought it would be recorded, i found non so right now is the opertunity to tell you the street name

google: la roca y el mar Gibraltar, Spain, i hope they have the picture of the street, idk how to put up a pic on YT though :(
