If we do get Kalil, he would be an upgrade, but he isn't going to put fear in a DC's plan to get to the QB. But a top CB, which I think Claiborne is, changes a offenses game plan, all of a sudden, the #1 wr is canceled out, or in zone, half the field is gone

I don't know about y'all, but I'm tired of having a 3rd & long situation turn into a 1st down because QB's disrespect our corners & just throw it up at them, knowing they won't make a play. I mean how many INT's do we have over the past 3-4 years?

Everybody just go to nfl.com & look up draft history since 2000. Look at the 1st round CB's compared to the 1st round T's. I bet you that you look at the CB's and say "he was a solid pick" and you look at the T's and say "what a bust"... CB's the way to go.

Kalil is hit or miss? He has been exceptional at the Combine and during last season. And where did you get that stat from?

Yea but That applies to most tackles out of later rounds. It's highly unlikely that the top LT will be a miss.

plus, CB's chosen top ten in the draft have a better success rate than T's. You know what you are getting with Claiborne, just put him out there to take the #1 WR out of the game. With Kalil, its hit or miss, you dont know what DC's are going to throw his way... DE's, LB's, S's & CB's could really hurt his confidence and before you know it, were drafting another LT 2 years later & most likely another QB.

Do you not know what a double TE set looks like? its when u line up a TE next to the LT, in this case, to help him out with blocking duties, which is a part of protecting the QB. That is what Musgrave's system is about, double TE sets. We proved what we can do with Charlie Johnson @ LT. We were able to get double digit leads, but couldn't hold them because of Bad Defense. 1998 & 2009 would have been different only if we had a defense...

Kalil will protect Ponder. Do you not want that? Protecting a potential franchise QB is the #1 priority.

pass happy league? yes it is, but where were the pass happy Packers, pass happy Saints, pass happy Bengals, pass happy Lions? Yup, right at home just like us watching the pass happy Patriots get beat in the SB. Look, we have Nobody back there in the secondary, and you think Kalil will make our offense pass happy? Get Real DUDE! looks like we will be running double TE sets & using a FB back there to help out whoever's our LT. We have to stop ignoring the secondary & go Claiborne #3.
