Slick 50 Road Saloons, Cadwell Park 22/5/1988

The Slick 50 Road Saloon Championship round on the short circuit, with the 1st gear hairpin and no LSD's allowed it was always going to be a lot of fun. Dave Thomas (Capri) & Ray Webb (Rover) had an amazing race long battle for the lead, oh yes I was in the slower gold Capri #50 :)

That looked and sounded superb, Brough back memories of my old 3.0 Ghia. Is this type of racing still going or have the health and safety mob banned it? Did I see an Opel Monza in there ?

The nearest think to it now is the Classic Group 1 Championship which has plenty of Capri's & Rovers.

Yes it was a Monza an ex Dealersport car I think.

it sure was tight- but made for some great racing. What could be better than Capri's v Rovers in the Cadwell sun! my old orange Capri no 63 looked a bit dog eared and Andy Howell in the red/white/blue capri had an eventful race. more slick 50 to come soon I hope!
