My favorite of all the versions I have heard. I first heard this lovely song in he movie Paris Texas. When I heard this version I decided to learn it in Spanish. I still have the accent of a gringo, but I can sing and play the tune.

Are Los Donnenos still alive? I grew up in my barrio in East Los Angeles hearing them but that was in the late 50's and early 60's. I hope these guys are still around.

Uno de los dos Donneños originales murió hace tiempo (Mario Montes, del ejido ojo de Agua, Terán, N. L.) pero el grupo sigue tocando con Ramiro Cavazos; durante el 2006 y 2007 los vimos programados para tocar en ciudades y ranchos del Noreste de México y sureste de EU
y siguen grabando canciones. Quien sabe como le hará Don Ramiro porque canta y se acompaña igual que en los viejos tiempos (supongo que es inmortal).
