Indiana Senator Richard Lugar being 'mic checked' by the 99% at Marian University in Indianapolis, IN.
He was discussing our dependency on oil when a group of 99%'ers decided to 'mic check' Mr. Lugar. Very interesting and very carried out! You can hear the tension in the room.
Mic Check, Mic Check!
Senator Lugar,
as you speak on your view
from the Senate and on Energy Issues
we will not lose sight of the plight
of the 99% in Indiana
or allow you to put blinders on the public
about the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline.
You have written legislation calling
for speeding up construction
on the Keystone XL oil pipeline,
disregarding the objections of the People,
ongoing environmental impact studies
and cost research,
claiming that America needs the jobs.
None of which would be created in this,
your home state.
Senator Lugar,
you have voted to approve
the National Defense Authorization Act
allowing U.S. Citizens to be arrested and held,
indefinitely,
without charge,
due process
or trial.
You have chosen Party over People,
voting to discontinue payroll tax cuts for working families,
while working for permanent tax cuts for the wealthy.
It is time for you to get a reality check
and put greed in check,
in favor of the real voices,
needs,
and future of the People of Indiana.
The view from the Heartland
at the Holidays
is discouraging, Senator.
We are Indy OWS
we are the 99 percent.
Keep it up Occupiers. We can change America!

Keyboard criticism used to bother me- after standing in the cold, wind and rain, looking like s#!T, getting harrassed face to face by naysayers and fellow "occupiers" alike, getting arrested for following through with actions, only to have keyboard "occupiers" criticize EVERYTHING I'm doing. I'm getting used to it, now. Trying to find the humor instead of defending myself. Congrats State House Capitol Crew! The protester is Time's Person of the Year! Couch potatoes get to read all about it!

The protest was too long. It was a nice idea, conceptually, but it was not done well. Thirty, forty seconds at most. At that point it becomes uncomfortable for all but the protesters. You lose the empathy of your audience. I know there will be those who disagree with me. But take it from one who lived the 60s.

I'm not sure you could be more uncoordinated. I'm for the Keystone XL oil pipeline, though against the NDAA.
