@WanderNeko Just to let you know my Acer is oustanding. It's 3 to 4 years old and it runs all games smooth as anything Very pleased. 18.4 inches and never ever had and issue or a crash or a problem.
I think the Asus with dual SLI 5870's is oustanding gaming laptop but asus shoud have made it like 20inches or more.

@Dorisequador It's an Acer though...Never seen an Acer that lasted a long time

Well, I've been trying to play Portal 2 and my graphics card would hit above 100 celsius and the game would begin to lag, this took about 20 minutes. I went in and cleaned the fan off and now its only taking about 3 minutes to reach 110 celsius, but i know the fan is operating correctly. I don't think that the G50Vt is cut out for the more recent games if you ask me, it doesn't cool well enough.

well putting the system on overclock really doesnt do much unless you're going to run some intensive programs to actually make the GPU and all the work (hence creating heat) put on like WoW, CoD, or HALO. i've had my computer over 100 degrees easily, granted i normally have a fan under and on the side to keep it cool xD

i used to overclock my asus g50 from the direct consol, but suddenly when i try to overclock it, the performance and LED light tabs on the direct consol arent clickable, only the OLED panel tab, do you know whats wrong, why direct consol isnt working, how can i fix this or overclock without direct consol?
-
yea just take your computer apart and clean the heat sink and cooling fan.
-
@ChinaKillsTerrorists this has been happening to me also. games I used to be able to play perfectly lag because of how hot my gpu gets.
-
@paranoid1414 but you don't have an SSD but I do in my G50vt.
-
how would you remove the heat sink to clean it? Because mine is overheating i think so the games I used to be able to play lag now.

nope, everything is factory setting, Asus uses dry type thermal pad on CPU and GPU.
