The NP5165 runs Skyrim on high setting pretty well. With just a few tweaks of the settings (like setting shadow quality to medium etc.) Skyrim will easily run at 60fps. Even in the biggest openings with the largest enemy Skyrim still runs smoothly without any visual problems.

Sager NP5165 Specs

-Intel i7-2720QM (2.2ghz)
-Nvidia GT555m Graphics card
-6gb of Ram

With Fraps running i had to lower some settings that could otherwise stay on high settings during normal game play. Overall the game still looks and runs beautifully on this Sager laptop.

  • I have the same laptop except with 6gb of ram and the 2630(2ghz). Mine struggles to stay at 60fps with everything on medium and no AA or AF.

  • @CorruptedVids Are you trying to run it at 1080p or 720. I recommend running it at 720 if you are having problems with frame rate. I personally prefer to play most games at 720 as it looks about the same to me regardless of what HD resolution i play on.

  • Ok this is might be a problem with just my game but once the game starts it passes the bethersia introduction thing then it goes to the skyrim insigma what do you press to pass that I swear I pressed every key. And now everytime i get to the same spot the game shuts down....

  • @Akuma2unlimited Unfortunately the game can and does crash a lot. There are some fixes out there that you can try. Here is a link of different fixes you can try. guide4games(.)com/index.php/fixes/868-the-elder-scroll-v-skyrim-crashes-freezes-crash-to-desktop-ctd-blackscreen-bad-framerates-sound-error-and-fixes

  • Forgot about one thing as well, what screen resoultion are you using with high settings? 1080, 900 dpi?

  • @amBullseye I am actually playing at 720 because recording at max settings makes the frame rate drop too low. I do play at 1080 when I'm not recording and it still runs on high settings but it stays around 30fps instead of 60.

  • @CorruptedVids I haven't been able to see FPS. Don't want to install FRAPS, waiting for bethesa or someone to tell me what the console command to check FPS is, but I am now able to play the game fluently at 1600 x 900 everything high 4x AA and AF.

  • @amBullseye I have the same laptop on the way. How has your experience with Skyrim been?

  • @itsadurg Wow, didn't expect it to run so well. 30 FPS @ 1080 is still quite good considering the laptop's GPU. It is safe to assume then that playing at 900 dpi with everything at high will give great performance and visuals. (Due to frame rate drop)

Enjoy your game. Will do the same once mine arrives. :D

  • @amBullseye Its mostly high settings, I lowered Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering down to 4 instead of 8 and i put shadow detail down to medium. However i only did that because fraps makes the game run a bit slower, so if you aren't recording the game can just run on all High settings.

  • @Akuma2unlimited Yep, Fraps is how i do all my recordings.
