They always manage to incorporate rock metal into a different level with lots of other sounds to make it sound totally different, giving it its own sound that you can't pigeon hole into one catagory. Which is great!

hollowbody guitar + closeness to amp = feedback

Phil on backup vocals? awesome

I love this jam. I mean no harm in asking if anyone knows of a blues song that resembles the main riff of "therethere" through the verses. I heard it on some local radio show a couple years ago, but I never tracked it down. Any clues?

one of the greatest versions of this song...

jep, that's true. I've got an ibanez artcore series, you just hold the chord you want, face the amp and because the entire body vibrates to the vibes from the amp, you start creating feedback

He's playing a Gibson hollowbody. Hollowbodies feedback very easily, so all you really have to do is face the amp, which is what Thom does.
Radiohead's bassist has a very, very distinct style. Incredible. Right hand technique and sound especially, he plays effortlessly and greatly.

More than a few years ago, I fell into a dark time - wasn't sure if I would see the following year.
All at once many things happened at once: took ownership of my crap, sought help and found Radiohead.
They are clearly one of the most awe-inspiring bands to record music. Not saying they "saved me" but every time I listen to them I am inspired and renewed - during the ugly times their music was a safe escape.
in my view they will forever be the best band the world has ever known.
