WB Yeats' wonderful poem "The Lake Isle of Innisfree" read at the eponymous location, complete with waves lapping on the shore. A poem and a place of such tranquility!

  • Seems you made a pilgrimage. Can you hear the birds in the background? Gorgeous. Thank you.

  • I see now, I see.

  • We have named our house in Canada "Innisfree" maybe an island will rise out of the lake one day because that is all it is missing!

  • Nice...but so English sounding ! That IS Lough Gill.

  • @donalmerrick

that is the lake and the island was there today

  • my grannys house is only probably 7 meters from there she lives in the white cottage

  • In 1988, I rowed a boat out to that island. Yeats was somehow all around. We rented that boat for 5 Irish pounds from a local Innkeeper.
