Our Town: Barnstable, MA - RE/MAX of New England

This month's "Our Town" takes a look at Barnstable, MA, part of the beautiful and picturesque area of Cape Cod.

Cape Cod is a 413-square mile peninsula of fields, forests, dunes, marshland and beaches located off the Massachusetts coast. The area has a population of about 200,000 year round.

Cape Cod is comprised of 15 towns that are broken out by Upper Cape, Mid Cape, Lower Cape and Outer Cape. The Upper Cape encompasses the towns of Bourne, Sandwich, Mashpee and Falmouth. The Mid Cape includes Barnstable, Dennis and Yarmouth. The Lower Cape is comprised of Brewster, Harwich, Orleans and Chatham. And, finally, the Outer Cape includes Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown.

The area is known for picturesque beaches, a pristine coastline and fantastic family events and activities. In the summer months, thousands flock to the area's beaches to enjoy either Cape Cod Bay or the waters of Nantucket Sound.
