  • I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to make the upload a response to Frances Ruffelle's version of the song. Just a thought. Cheers.

  • Thanks Jim...I didn't know there was a cover of the song already out there..I'll post it as a repsonse.

  • @enfinlibre68 How do you know so much abt Paddy - he is one of a kind!

  • @enfinlibre68 Paddy studied his degrees (history and english) at a seminary. Thats a place where catholic priests train & with a name like Paddy hes going to have a bit irish in him (that will be catholic as well) so God is going to have an influence on him. I like the fact that he doesn't tow the very populist line of nt being religious. He said that if you put Richard Hawkins and Bob Dylan in a room Bob dylan wld win any argument as he is a poet. Check out when love breaks down cars&girls

  • I've never seen Paddy live he hates the lime light from what I have seen of his interviews. Paul Mcartney said that he was one of the most undervalued songwritters in the UK. I know hes been ill but it would be great if he could do one more concert. As a religious person (my most recent fav band who are brilliant live - Keane are seriously anti religion so its good to see someone who standing up for his beliefs against the populist tide! Pls one more concert PAddy!!

  • A religious song for atheists. Paddy McAloon, you're a fucking genius.

  • Great, great man - should have far more recognition - his song writing is up there with all the greatest songwriters - beautiful voice - this song is so beautiful it makes me cry - been a fan since the eighties, just wish he'd release some new material

  • Beside after watching an interview in the old TV series Rapido it is clear I understood the message quite well.Getting people to think about deep and complicated moral issues yet using a common dance beat of the time.Paddy being fascinated by popular musicals. He was still trying to write a kind of musical with religious undertones.Spirituality and religion cannot and should not be reduced to any organized religion.See yourself as you are and find your own path to enlightenment.Free yourself!

  • To the followers of the herd:I never called the lyrics cheesy.I called them weird not so much because they are unusual but because the sound and the production are commercial and cheesy and at odds. However listening to "looking for atlantis and from Memphis "there are a couple of tracks I like just as much or even more but the LP is weak .Now I do not have the honour to know this very spiritual(et spirituelPaddy but the lyrics go"I have no time for religion maybe doubt is a modern disease.."

  • @Westerdd > a statement that can only be said, seriously by a person who believes in God. Check out the definition of religion for the rest of us. Anyway, all music is about personal taste, and I don't like this stuff. It is torturous- and I have been a Sprout fan since 84, seen them 5 times live.

  • @markthnark don't agree. Religion and god are 2 different things, well illustrated by the words "I've no time for religion" . Quite hard to say its religious inspired after that line.

  • Paddy''s voice is very comforting. Like everything is ok. The baby will sleep sound with Paddy's voice singing nearby.
