This wasn't bad at all - never watched G1 because I was too busy enjoying the golden age of Transformers and GI Joe. Typical 80s animation but that can't be criticized, that was the style back then. The musical number could use work. It is kind of surprising that dragons that can burn down a village would give up just from getting wet, but meh. Not amazing, but not something to hate - we wouldn't have the awesomeness that is G4 if Lauren Faust hadn't been inspired by a decent G1.

@Jansci7G Remake? They already half-remade this episode for "Secret of my Excess" with dragon puberty.
They're really stretching things here. The next thing you know, season 3 or 4 will use the story of the MLP G1 Movie and stretch it over the first 16 episodes (and will somehow make it awesome anyway).

As a person who watches MLPFIM religously, G1 is the dark ages. To be fair, alot of the cartoons of the time were cheesy and their goal was really to sell toys. Plus, there would be no MLPFIM if it hadn't been for this. I guess its better than every MLP in between like G2 and G3.

I love this Spike better. The new one looks adorable but his voice and personality are just horrible. Haven't seen much of FIM apart from clips so who knows, Spike in that might not be as bland as I think he is.

They are actually going to remake this episode for the G4 series! It's going to be called "Dragon's Quest."
People, G1 is the good season. G2-3 are the ones that suck. One of the reasons G4 is so epic is because it was made to be closer in heart to G1, that and Lauren Faust is awesome.

G1 haters please just step down. No one is asking you to enjoy every incarnation of the franchise, but please stop actively seeking out stuff you don't like just to put the older seasons down. It doesn't make you more of a "brony" (god I hate that word), it just makes you a massive tool.
