On Thursday, March 20th, the Shinnyo-en Foundation held the Pathfinders to Peace Awards Gala, honoring Academy Award-winning actors Morgan Freeman and Mira Sorvino for their service to society and their communities. Freedman was honored for founding PLAN!T NOW, an initiative supporting victims of and regions affected by natural disasters. Sorvino was selected for tribute because of her support for Amnesty International.

The awards coincide with the launch of the Shinnyo-en Foundation's Six Billion Paths to Peace intiative, which hopes to inspire people worldwide that the small selfless actions they take in their daily lives often times have a tremendous positive ripple effect that can bring greater harmony to the world.

Supporters of the Shinnyo-en Foundation's cause are encouraged to submit their personal stories of peace--or paths to peace--to the website http://joinus.sixbillionpaths.org/
The Shinnyo-en Foundation is hoping to collect 1 million stories by the end of the year.
