When I placed this comment, there was a great deal of discussion amongst climbers about recent events where the figure eight cammed against the caribiner forcing it open and unclipping it. Apparently, since the device is behind you while Aussie rapping, you can't monitor it, and therefore, don't know until you start freefalling. When i first read about this I quit using figure eights all together and now use black diamond atc instead.

You have obviously not read about the safety issues with a figure-8 and aussie rappeling. Scary!
