It is quite normal and professional to ask a director for more details if required, Method or not. Actors are the ones who are on film - nobody else - and they need to have every single piece of information at their disposal. In the case of someone as intelligent and instinctive as Delphine Seyrig this would be especially true. Chantal Akerman is a great director and in collaboration with a team and an actor as good as this, the filmed results are remarkable; at least as good as Visconti.

Where did you get this? Fascinating to see Akerman trying to get through to her actress who seems to want to know more than Akerman can verbalise. Akerman also comes across as shy and not entirely confident, and its like the actress is treating her like a film student who doesn't know what she is doing. Anyway, the result is an enigmatic film which is monumental amongst feminist films. Thanks for posting!
