it is actually much simpler then i had expected... just the fact that nothing happens in the case of error throws me off, unlike PHP which i am accustomed to

well big like, but i think you should have better explained some things here, especially for beginners, i was just staring at this source code of yours for about one hour, untill i didnt figured out what is what :) but thanks anyway, this is the simplest and so far greatest jquery ajax tutorial for me on youtube. thanks and keep it going.!
