  • I had grown tired of this song because whenever I had seen it done either as part of the musical or in concert, it was always "time for the big number". The singer kind of did a majestic version of it. I like the way in which Brian Stokes Mitchell uses the song to explain to Aldonza who he is. "Don't you understand? This is my quest, to follow that star." He hits all the right notes, but that aspect to the interpretation adds a poignancy to it that involved me once again in the song.

  • A great job at vastly improving a wonderful song by an awesome performer. Your efforts are much appreaicated.

  • I was shown this in my music class at college. I bet not one of them in my class looked this up afterwards. No one my age really gets it, but I think I do.

  • @masochisticlion1 Me too! It wasn't perhaps at BYU was it? haha.

  • @DLeon138 Or rather, now, 3 didn't realize that reaching the star is not what is important

  • I never tire of his voice. It lulls me. soothes me at the same time taking me on an emotional journey that just makes me smile.

  • Is it bad that I have been replaying this over and over?! LOL

  • 1 Person didn't reach the unreachable star. :P

  • I'm 11 and my mom made me watch this instead of playing my video games and said "Children these days don't realize how amazing music is. Watch this and I'm sure that you will learn to appreciate classical music more.". At first I was doubtful because she already made me watch this whole opera and I've already heard it been sung by someone else. But when I heard this guys voice and remembered the story.....I cried

  • Note the standing ovation at the end. Applause is common at the Tonys. Standing ovations at the end of a number? Pretty rare, unless it's a legend (i.e., Liza, Carol, etc.)

  • I never used to like other singers' interpretations of this - it was always shallow, superficial. But now...once you stick this song into this story...

Let's just say that thanks to Brian I may just have found my favourite musical.

  • THE BEST BROADWAY SHOW EVER.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE BROADWAY SHOW EVER......

    BEAUTIFULLY DONE.

WITH FULL OF PASSION AND LOVE.........
