And Paulette Goddard, Joan Fontaine... What a great film! In 57 there was a remake with June Allyson, Agnes Morehead, Ann Sheridan and Joan Collins, but not so good.

The remake did not stink however it did not make much of an impression either. It could not possibly compete with the legendary original! Why film companies waste their time and money trying to recreate the magic and spendor of previous massive hit films is beyond me!

They were lifelong rivals, but Norma Shearer wasn't HALF the talent or HALF the beauty and sex appeal that Joan was.

This film was the first time my brown eyes ever set on Paulette Goddard and from then on they couldnt wander further.
I'm in lurrrrrvvv!
It's been remade... and it's probably going to stink to high heaven.
