@UnyieldingDefiance You are correct; many people do not realize that before white men got to what we now call the US, many native tribes were slaveholders. They were also anything BUT feminists as well; women did not have rights as we know them today. European Christians also put a stop to the human sacrifice that was going on here in the Americas long before the Europeans got here. Perhaps the members of Clannad don't know this, being Irish...

Now this is just getting ethic but true, nothing will ever be the same again

I cant believe I just found this thanks to steveperry(journey) on facebook. I love it and want to tell you how I appreciate your music. I also love the chance to hear Steve Perry any chance I get! Thank you!!!

@TheClannadChannel Okay but don't hold a grudge for what my ancestors did. It was the crazy English Empire and it's thirst for riches. You still see it today... soldiers fighting wars not because they want to but because they're told to. Remember at this time England was harsh to it's own people too, you either had money or you didn't. The king was just power mad...

I've been searching for Irish music today and keep running into Steve Perry! He is a brilliant singer and Clannad is legendary. Love the chemistry.

What a beautiful collaboration. I love Clannad and Steve Perry proves yet again that he can sing anything brilliantly, even in Gaelic!

Thats bono in the background right?
-
@3rosesred Because they can relate to them, the Irish were invaded by the English and they tried to kill the Irish race
-
@3rosesred Because we are living in one world? Because 'crime' means 'crime' everywhere???
-
@3rosesred to be against white racists is not the same as be racist. And what you mean "their own people"? I'm white and "my own people" are Martin Luther King or Dalailama.

Does anyone have the translation for the Gaelic from this song? I'd be very interested and appreciative. :)
Peace! Jules

Rothai an t'saoil ag casadh leo
Nil imeacht uaidh go deo
Daoine corr an t'saoil ag goid leo
Ni cuma leo go foill
(the wheels of the world keep on turning
It's inevitable
The corrupt people of this world keep on stealing
Yet, they don't care)

Maire, Pol and Ciaran Brennan sang and played from an early age in their father's bar, Leo's Tavern. Soon they were accompanied by their uncles, Padraig and Noel Duggan, winning a talent contest in Letterkenny in 1970. Their first album, 'Clannad' was released in 1973. They were celebrated at home, and found an appreciative folk audience in Germany. The 1982 album , 'Fuaim', featured sister Enya.
