this scared the hell out of me

Who would like to "understand" a gentle spring breeze?

To me, this kind of 'atonality' succeeds where Schoenberg fails. I'm no musical scholar but this piece makes sense to me whereas the Schoenberg and his buddies' works (except Berg's sonata) goes over my head. Lovely work!

@Kylymageeli Don't worry about it. Just play it a few times in a row, letting the sounds wash over you (make sure you're in a good frame of mind). You might find just one little part that you like; let it grow from there. You have to give this kind of music time to grow on you - don't force it. And if you never start to like it, then that's ok, too. Just don't 'want' it to sound like tonal music....

The harmonies remind me of both Ornstein and Roslavets. I love this.
