Tom Coburn Won't Comfort the Crying Woman

At a town hall, Tom Coburn doesn't comfort a crying constituent about her health care problems. Instead, he just takes the opportunity to stick with partisan talking points and tells her that government is not the answer. Health care reform would provide access to care for this woman and thousands of Oklahomans like her.

Sits there telling the women to ask her neighbors for help when HE HIMSELF has government run health care!!! Does anyone see just how contradicting and ridiculous that is.....?? I bet you would ask your neighbors for help to wouldn't you Coburn ? HELL NO.... your butt would be down at the clinic getting professional treatment under your government run plan!!

As for the claim that "It's liberals who deny nutrition to patients....", and the use of Terry Schiavo as a putative supporting example: that generalization is gross, but also grotesque. Why have you disregarded (or simply not considered) the very large and significant differences between the situation of the "Crying Woman's" husband and that of Terry Schiavo?

*If* she had asked "neighbors" for help (friends, extended family, etc), & they were not able/willing to team up to donate, say, 24/7 nursing care, then the woman might be able to shift the blame on to them.

I've taken Coburn's advice to heart. When a mole on my back turned cancerous, I had a couple of friends remove it in a kitchen-table surgery. Lucky, I had the background knowledge to grok what was happening on my body. Many in the same situation might try to cope, with Band-Aids & machismo.

@gocatholic Yes, Coburn offered "to use the power currently at his disposal to help this woman". Which powers? Those at his disposal in his capacity as an agent of the Government - FROM WHICH, ACCORDING TO HIMSELF, NO HELP SHOULD COME.

Instead, he implicitly blames this woman for not having sought help from her neighbors (from whom, if we take his words seriously, help should be sought and found).

Sanchez and CNN should be ashamed of themselves. It's liberals who deny nutrition to patients with traumatic brain injury, not conservatives. Ever heard of Teri Schiavo? Further, Coburn apparently wants to use the power currently at his disposal to help this woman. Laws are not compassionate. People are compassionate. God bless this woman and God bless Tom Coburn.
