@SoIdid100 Your sarcasm and patronizing is an example of the mindset in Clarion. You are now reaping what has been sowed for years. Your diatribe on democracy is interesting but does not remedy the fact that the whole council is ignorant of the machinations of council procedures , up to and including simple rules of order.

@monkigun Thanks for the well thought out and insightful commentary. Have you considered running for this borough council? Based your response you would probably fit right in...
Democracy is not incompatable with integrity and standing up for what is right. At times, rash action can be helpful, as this one was as it created more scrutiny on a sad bunch of good ole boys.

Waah I don't like the results of a democratic vote so I quit!

I sure hope there is a video of the next meeting to keep the public up on what is going on with this council. It seems we all need to see more of what is going on.

@tyberman0132 My grandfather is a great man, regardless of what you or anyone else thinks or says...he has done a lot of important things for Clarion.

@amused112 First, a recent law permits borough managers to have contracts. Mrs. Freenock had hers approved by the sitting council as written; that's not controversial. Second, the former council was seeking to protect her from the idiocy of the current council. Third, Mrs. Freenock removed her name from the account AFTER the meeting, as would be expected because she was no longer a state employee. Fourth, she never "refused" to discuss her contract; in fact, her contract is public record.
This is elementary school democracy, with a petulant child as the ringleader. Unfortunately, all the responsible adults on council seem to have resigned. And who can blame them? Only the old (and entirely inept) boys are left. At this point, the borough appears on the verge of combusting and, worse still, those remaining on borough council are simply running around with lit matches. In fact, the firefighters are fanning the flames. The irony is delicious.

I served on a school board for 13 yrs, as well as an officer at the PA. School Boards Assoc. for 8 yrs. I have been a part of thousands of meetings. This takes the cake. I do not know ANY of these individuals, but I can say that the board "president" acted irresponsibly. With no plan, he allows the manager to be terminated, he loses control of the meeting, he has no solicitor at a meeting where such an important decision is being made? I’m speechless. And that doesn’t happen often!
