April 2001 I was riding with a group of bikes on PCH in Malibu leaving the Rock Store heading back to Orange County. Another motorcycle in the group, Michael Mitchell, illegally pass the SUV behind me on the shoulder and tried to come around in front of me clipping my front wheel. The bike went into a high speed wobble and I flew off and slid into the rear of a parked car and bounded off. I was air lifted to UCLA Medical Center where the CT scan revealed my descending Aorta was torn. I was taken into surgery and Dr. Daniel Marelli patched me up. Every year or so I get a follow up CT scan of my aorta to make sure the Gortex graft is holding.
I'm glad you're OK. God bless.

The real problem with motorcycle riding is that the rider needs to ride within their means. Most accidents are the from the riders speeding.

Trouble is, you can't avoid these kinds of accidents because you never know when some driver is going to pull an illegal move. Motorcycle riding is PURE gambling. The odds are about 50% that any rider will have a horrendous injury and survive. There are fates worse than death.

When ridding in groups I'm more worried about the other bike riders then the cars.
Good knowing you recovered from your injuries and hope you still ride.
