Beautiful. Thank you for this. And a special thanks for the camera work, which allowed us to see so much of his hands on the keyboard.

Listeining from the first movement through the third movement, it moves me so much and it makes me cry. It is miraculously beautiful. Although his interpretation may sound a bit unusual, it sounds so truthful to himself, and he simply seems to enjoy his own music and free in his playing. I do love his casual-in-spirit style in creating this perfect music world!

If you want to hear God or whatever like that speaking, the only way is to listen to M.Pletnev's Art. His music is neither cool nor eccentric. It's just because it's out of humanity. It's absolute. Trancendendal. Divine.

by the way a meaningful rubato like pletnev's (no matter how strong) will always be more natural than the unmotivated (even small) rubatos and wavering arround of so many other pianists.

When I first heard this interpretation, i found it a bit too lofty for this profound movement.. strangely after hearing it 2 or 3 times it gets even deeper and intoxicating than every other performance of this piece.

makes my brain tingle
whether or not one agrees with his interpretation, you must agree that this is a highly original, moving performance. In my opinion, no one plays this piece more like a "fantasy" than Mr. Pletnev.

Great to see this, thanks for the posting. I agree with other comments...this performance has eccentric rubato and is emotionally uninvolving. However, Pletnevs technique is staggering and the dynamic range between the different melodic lines is almost beyond belief! But maybe this magician has too many tricks in his box...see the Fiorentino performances posted on YouTube which bring out the sheer humanity of Schumanns conception. But it's always great to see Pletnev in action so thanks again!
