The Vienna Piano Trio play the second movement of Haydn's most eccentric piano trio. Headed by the composer in the manuscript 'Jacobs dream', it refers to the Biblical Jacob, who dreamt of a ladder to heaven on which angels were ascending and descending, as can be clearly heard. Legend has it that the trio was written for a violinist who had a distinct tendency to wander off into the higher registers of his instrument. From the 2009 'Indian Summer in Levoca' Festival. Concert given with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum, Bratislava.
