Let's Play ColecoVision Frogger

This is my best game footage of Frogger for the ColecoVision and the game can be very fast and frustrating very quickly. I was able to reach a certain level with the lockness monster (I suppose) but it's really too hard for me at this point.

I've been tempted to get a Colecovision for a long time, but I hear the controllers are ass. Is this true? Are those mushroom joysticks stiff and unresponsive? How are they with Frogger?

@7megahertz Most of the old joysticks can be fixed and also modded for a better gaming experience. Just cleaning the contacts inside do help, but if you're looking for the best solution and still keep the standard control as it should be, contact a guy named Yurkie on AtariAge forums, he's an expert that can certainly help you.

can the Coleco Adam play this?

@y2k4ever1 Honnestly, I've not tested it, and can't test it now. Since that it's not a game programmed in the golden rules of Colecovision programming, there is a possibility that it might not work for the Coleco ADAM computer. Since that, so far, the only game that was confirmed having an issue running on Coleco ADAM is SteamRoller (can't pass a certain level for unknow reason), my answer is that I think Frogger should also works on Coleco ADAM computers.

@y2k4ever1 I think this game is playable on both, ColecoVision and Coleco ADAM, but I've never tried my cartridge on the computer... I'll have to dig up in my cave of wonders to find back my Coleco ADAM to find the answer... or you can just ask your Coleco ADAM questions to the experts at adamcon dot org, they have a weekly chat session if you want a quick reply.

Frogger is one arcade game 8 bits can come very close to arcade perfect, I think - along with Qbert (althought that has sampled speech - forget that aspect). I think the Coleco can cope with multicoloured sprites - these look a bit Spectrum-like.

@wingnut4427 - I had no luck on finding the rom I needed. All the ones I tried, none of them work on Colem2.1 or Vcolecovision. I'm going to guess that the BlueMSX plays the .zip file roms, not the .rom roms like Colem2.1 and Vcolecovision. Grr. Oh well..I tried.
