Europeans often claim they are superior based on "their" inventions. But as this Discovery Channel documentary shows, Europeans merely copied many inventions that originated in The East.

I distinctly remember going to school in the United States and learning that China was responsible for inventing gunpowder, firearms, the steam engine, block printing, paper, possibly the wheel, and making significant advances in modern particle physics.

European education must certainly be subpar if they're learning a distorted version of world history. That's unfortunate.

The Chinese slagged behind technological advancements compared to Europe in the last 200 years because of political upheavals and of course, European imperialism. Step back a few thousands or even few hundred years, the Chinese empire was far superior. The West chooses not to acknowledge the inventions and innovations by the East Asians.

You misunderstood the message. When he says Europeans he means Euro-descent people as a whole (the west). I don't doubt that you learned that in school and I did too. However until recently schooling curriculum was very different. It used to be that the middle east was "greater Europe" since it was discovered to be the place where civilization started. Even today eurocentric bias persists.
