I respect all firefighters and what they do i have more respect for volunteer fire fighters because they choose to be a firefighter and because they don't ever ask do be paid for it. Thanks to all firefighters out there.

@mparanoid1 not really many, just very few, and none of them operate in midtown manhatten. There is quite a number of Qs in Queens and Staten Island, and some in Bronx, Brooklyn and Harlem, but not in High-Rise-Areas, because they really are too loud!

@Mrgh22 I hav heard that FDNY brass/NYC brass don't like the mechanical Qs because of the echoing and excess noise (iirc). However, many FDNY companies recognize that nothing beats the moving power of a true Q siren and install on on their rigs, removing them on inspections and the like.
