You can modify /etc/inittab to auto login and start x automatically via the logged in user's .bashrc. It's very easy and it's out there in google search. Very nice configuration mod for personal desktop/laptops without having to log in all the time. :)
BTW I <3 my MSI U210 (with Debian though).

you misunderstand, apparantly this netbook can't fit a 2.5. it uses a Platter HDD like they use in Ipods. just making sure
-
2.5" is the size for laptop drives so yes, you cant expect to fit a 3.5" lol
-
can a 2.5 HDD fit in this netbook
-
got the 9" model today, the preinstalled 8.04 boots in about 30 seconds, the 9.04 netbook remix is only a bit faster.

You can switch into desktop mode... but now the plain Ubuntu works (at least 9.04) out of the box. You just have to enable mobile ppa and install poulsbo graphic drivers.

Good point ultimateballer.
Mini 12 has slower and smaller 4200rpm zif hard drive.
Moreover, it is equipped with different type of Atom (Z series in mini 12, N series in wind).

Go to UNR wiki, download iso, burn dvd, use external dvd drive to install. Then switch into desktop mode, install poulbo driver and you are done.

Now, you don't need any tweak. Just install Ubuntu 9.04. You download ISO file from ubuntu, then write it into USB stick using unetbootin. Then boot mini 12 using the USB stick.
