I am splicing together segments from ten different versions of A Christmas Carol to create a version as faithful to Charles Dickens' book as I can. I am also including the best of some of the modern interpretations that although not what Mr Dickens could have imagined, still honor the spirit of his Christmas masterpiece.

  • whats the first 1 shown?

  • @dragonz4eva The first clip shown here in part 10 is the George C. Scott version from 1984. I think he is the best actor to play Scrooge and that he does the best overall acting job of any actor to portray Scrooge.

  • Thanks i need this for class

  • Haha. What grade did you end up with? Some Christmas I hope you do read the book though, Dickens' words can send chills down your spine.

  • Amazing! It must have taken you a life time!

  • @latitudetwenty = I'd say the combination of Scott's and Stewart's performances are noteworthy. Stewart brought out emotion from the text, but I didn't see that as much in Scott's performance. I feel that you SENSE a change in Scrooge through Stewart's performance.

  • @ThePicklestix67 same ere

  • they're all Reginald Owen wannabe's.

  • Of all the different versions of this Charles Dickens classic, I love the Patrick Stewart version the most.

  • Has no one else noticed something about “A Christmas Carol 1984” on DVD?

In the morning after the ghost of Christmas Future visits Scrooge. Scrooge says, “I’m as merry as a school boy”, but on the subtitles on the UK, DVD, it reads, “I’m as may as a school boy”

  • Albert Finney's 1970 version may be the musical one you are thinking of. That's the only musical version besides the Muppets right? I didn't even know there was a Kelsey Grammer version until this year when I saw a bit of it on tv. It pretty much sucked but if I had known Jennifer Love Hewitt was in it I would have definitely found a line for her to include :)
