Awesome sailing on San Luis Reservoir on 20 mph winds with 30 mph gusts. Lots of fun. The GPS registered 10 mph down the wind and over 8 mph when tacking, very fast for a regular 19' sailboat. Sorry for the quality of the movie, but it is hard to sail single handed on this kind of winds and make a movie of it.
This is my 1967 renovated Oday Mariner. Still work in progress.

  • The traveller was there when I bought this Mariner, but I removed as it does not work well. Now I've no traveller. Thanks for your comment.

  • your nuts for sailing there!

  • That boat is making great speed in those winds!

  • Hi, Andre - I agree, this is a great video. Sailing in high winds can be an awful lot of fun. I've gone out on "Orion" during small craft advisories under only a reefed main... and waterproof clothing! Thanks for sharing - it makes me want to go sailing right now!

  • Excellent video. Looks very exciting. Curious if you added 'traveller' at transom. Does it work well?
