Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas recorded their version ( with George Martin producing ) of Every Time That You Walk In The Room in September 1964 the same month that The Searchers released their shorter titled version. However the Billy J Kramer version was never released as a single and lay in the vaults until 2 decades later.

  • Very Beatles like arangement. I know McCartney wrote from a window for them.

    Pretty good group!

  • @afton1955

Jackie de Shannon wrote the song and recorded it first. But the most popular version is the one by THE SEARCHERS.

    Best wishes,

    Werner

  • Seems this song was covered by various artist but whom was the original out of the bunch. Anyone out there know let me know. Have always loved this song.

  • This was released in Europe as a single and there is some conjecture as to whether Billy actually recorded it before The Searchers, but they were quicker getting hteir version out

  • @ChrisCurtisFan In my view better than the Searchers ( more gutsy), if a little slow. Not nearly as good as the original Jackie DeShannon version though ( Glen Campbell played the electric 12 string riff on that track ). See You Tube for the 60s video

I think the riff on this was a double tracked 6 string ( as this was George Martin's practice with the Dakotas.

  • Funny...The tempo, the staccato drumbeat and the heavy guitars...makes me wonder if John Lennon and Paul McCartney heard this take and went away and composed "Ticket To Ride"...

They sound awfully similar ! Hmm...

  • They are good! I appreciate 'em! They sound awesome! Billy J, I am your fan!

  • Sluggish. Clearly not a "for release" take.

  • Too bad it's so slow,

He had a good voice for these kind of songs.G. Martin made the early Beatles records fast.He should have done that here.

  • recorded in 1964 but never released until it was included on a 1970's greatest hits compilation.
