Why did I imagine that this could only be sung by the likes of Regine Crespin and Janet Baker? Gedda proves that he is equally capable of smelling like a rose and having a virginal dream.

I know this song sung by the Belgian baritone José van Dam. It sounds very different. Van Dam in my opinion is a great singer, and I don't know which version I do prefere. I like bothe very well.

Still, I keep saying: What Nicolai Gedda can, only Nicolai Gadda can.

Bonne qualité de l' enregistrement au début ; médiocre à la fin ; dommage .

I have read that the collection was initially composed for either baritone, contralto, or mezzo-soprano, and piano. Gedda's warm voice suits very well and it is a real "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for me!

Thank you very much Janya for wonderful treat. True gem!

Wonderful treat to the great tenor.
