Submersible Sibu Sarawak (2050) - Flood

Sibu is the second largest town in Sarawak. From November to February each year the town is submersed by the waters from Rajang River, effected most of houses and infrastructural have been damaged. This is becoming more severe with climate change in rising sea levels.

So the question in most local residents mind is that when Sibu could become a better living in the future. Along with extreme climatic conditions, the flooding this town and coastal in river is a treat. With rising water level threatening coastal areas around the world, the future of human habitation and expansion is living on water.

Current proposal(Sibu Riviera City) for urban growth do not take into account this phenomenon. This project explores a new aquatic based urban typology and strategy that proposes a more sustainable and habitable environment. This is possibility of what Sibu might be in 2050.

Absolutely love the idea. Even if Sibu doesn't flood, this would have been a better tourist attraction than a couple of silly parks. Keep up the good work!
