  • Hi, I'm a pianist and I get many finger injuries (sprains) even when playing the simplest things. should one also stretch the fingers, and if so how? thank you.

  • @hymntonight I would think that you have something going on with the positioning of your hands when you play. Maybe you need more support from your core (body). It is difficult to say. Have you studied with a classical teacher who really knows technique?

  • Thank you for the info, it's immediately helpful. Question: should I do longer stretches after I am done playing guitar for the day?

  • I think some mild stretching after any playing is always fine as long as it is done with caution.

  • Thank you so much! do you agree with puting ice on inflamed tendents / pains ?

  • Ice and heat can both have positive results. Proper use of the body is really what fixes us for the long run. I have had success with heat before playing and cool packs at the end of a long gig. It really depends on your body, but look into those options and definitely seek help of you need.

  • Yo, everyone is jealous cause this guy right here is my teacher...and always our big bird!

  • this was interesting, i think?

  • yo todd

  • I have one question? Why the pianist or some musicians put theire hands in cold wather before to start playing?

  • Thanks for this video! I sprained my wrist once and saw a physiotherapist...she showed me exercises where I held the wrist in position during some stretches. My wrist actually got worse and only got better after I did no exercises at all. I can't believe I paid for that!

  • Is it bad that in the first flex my wrist clicks.. im not applying much pressure.

I tend to click my wrist a lot when playing i assume this is because of my small hands..

  • Mr. Urban... You will always be our Big Bird :)
