theres a way to get six stars without shooting ppl and stuff just go past the borders and then run for ure life

Please note that in order to witness a cops/gang shootout you have to time your arrival right. You must be seen by the gang and have them shoot at you, or otherwise the cops won't go after them. Then, when the cops and the gang are engaged, you get out of the way and try not to draw anyone's fire.
As a bonus you can collect lots of guns once they're done. I equip myself that way.
I wish I knew how to take a video of that on the PC so I could post it on YouTube. It's really cool...

Well, the other way to survive six stars is to get into a police car, select a crime scene, race there, and take out the criminals. The moment the lone criminal or all gang members are dead your wanted level is back to zero and you can just walk out among any cops.
The most fun thing to do for me is get a four or more star wanted level, then race to a gang activity scene, hide somewhere where I can see the action but am out of the line of fire, and let the cops take out the gang...
